The Alexander Theater is a historic landmark in Helsinki. The venue has also become something of a We Jazz staple, and no wonder: After all, it did host the first ever We Jazz Festival opening concert in 2013. The venue itself is a sight to behold with is classic decor and deep history. We’re delighted to be back for in 2022.
G Livelab is the best club for music listening in Helsinki. The giant Genelec speakers make for the outstanding sound, but in the end it’s all down to the venue’s unique atmosphere. This is one of those places where the music has the opportunity to shine bright beyond all expectations.

GLO Hotel Art is, well, a hotel. But it also has a great venue in the cellar space, perfect for acoustic small group jazz. This time around, we’re also doing something experimental with the Ka Baird residency, taking place in one of the premiere rooms of the hotel.
Harju 8 is a comfy bistro in the Kallio district. If you lunch here, you might well bump into some We Jazz people on a normal day, but there’s nothing normal about the night of 30 Nov at Harju 8, as We Jazz Festival takes over the space. That is, upstairs, you can hear a couple of top-notch bands in David Friedman Generations Trio and Kokko Quartet, and downstairs, We Jazz DJs spin vinyl all night long. Not many people have been downstairs at Harju 8 before. Come hang!
Kalliosali is a newcomer on the Helsinki venue map and we’re delighted to welcome the new space as part of We Jazz this year. To be honest, we don’t know so much about this space beforehand. Isn’t it nice to discover a new place while checking out some quality music?
Korjaamo is a Helsinki classic through and through. There’s a bunch of good music rooms in this one, and We Jazz has the privilege to be the first festival to make use of all of them in a single event. WOW. Vaunusali, Kulmasali, Vintti… It’s all happening. There’s even stuff to be announced later at the cinema.
Peloton Cycling Eatery is a community founded in spring 2022 to bring people together for good food, drinks and cycling. We’ll kick off the the festival there with a radio show brunch on Sun 27 Nov and also the first one of our “marathon” nights on Fri 2 Dec begins there, with a free for all gig by Oaagaada.
Suvilahti is an ever-changing old power plant area right next to the Kallio district. We Jazz is one of its rare winter festival events, and the combination of Tiivistämö and Mittarikorjaamo has become very dear to us and our long-time visitors. Now we’re adding one more room filled with music: Magito. This should be fun.
The We Jazz Record Shop was founded in November 2019 and it has since become a trusted partner to all those interested in music on physical formats, plus books, magazines, etc. During the festival, the shop will remain open during regular hours (Tue-Fri 3pm–7pm, Sat 12noon–4pm) and in addition, many of the events will feature a pop up shop. Most of the shop’s catalog is also available worldwide via Discogs.
