Sure, there’s been Sun Ra tributes before but we think none quite like this one by Helsinki psych-rockers Death Hawks, as designed specifically for We Jazz 2020. Are you excited? We are excited!!!

There’s many things we’re happy and even proud about and one of them is being able to release “Quintet East” by bassist-composer Antti Lötjönen this spring. Covid prevented the release gigs during the release of the album, but we believe this is the gig which makes it all okay. Lötjönen on bass, Verneri Pohjola on trumpet, Mikko Innanen and Jussi Kannaste on the saxes, Joonas Riippa on drums.

Drummer/producer Teppo “Teddy Rok” Mäkynen always has some great ideas up his sleeve, so we just invited him to present some of them in a mixtape of a gig, of sorts. So basically he’ll invite a fascinating cast of characters to appear with him on stage during this very special performance.

Third in our series of artist curated “mini festival”, the Superposition Festival features the We Jazz recording quartet of Olavi Louhivuori, Adele Sauros, Linda Fredriksson and Mikael Saastamoinen in a special all-nighter with guests to be announced later. This happens only now.
